Help for when children really struggle…

Sometimes parents find their child completely changes. Perhaps they were a little anxious before but were basically coping ok, then quite suddenly everything seems to change.

Symptoms a child’s not coping

  • they can’t sleep – wake repeatedly
  • don’t want to be separated from you
  • don’t want to eat or are fearful around food
  • they have sudden mood swings
  • they don’t want to go to school
  • they may be afraid of getting sick or dying
  • they become more angry and aggressive

It can seem baffling and overwhelming, when your child changes in so many different ways. It leaves parents feeling confused and powerless. No matter how much we love them and try to meet their needs, there always seems to be another problem. This is a scary time for children and parents and getting the right help is vital to break this negative pattern, and get the child from struggling to coping again.

Why do children suddenly change so much?

Multiple changes are often an indicator that the child has become completely overwhelmed by more changes/ issues/ events in their life than they can cope with. So they experience severe anxiety which manifests in different ways. It may not seem like much has happened, or that the changes have been positive like moving to a nicer house, but for a child change is a massive event, regardless of how positive.

It could be that a few small changes in their life have coincided and just knocked them for six. We forget children are actually very fragile because they’re still trying to learn everything about who they are, how they work, what the world’s like, and how they fit in it! With so many processes going on in their minds it’s easy to see how too much change can throw them off balance. Then they’re left desperately seeking some security and safety and struggling through each day. But children can be helped back to coping again with the right treatment.

How hypnotherapy helps them improve and gain confidence too…

Hypnotherapy is an effective treatment because it positively explains what’s happening to them in a way they can understand which is reassuring straight away. Then we reduce their stress and anxiety levels to being manageable again, so their behaviours subside. Some children are too anxious to close their eyes for trance and have stories instead which works too. Several of the children mentioned in the children’s reviews have been in exactly this situation.

Easy! You can call me (leave a message if I don’t pick up) or email me with your details. I am a Solution Focused Therapist so the sessions are always positive and relaxed. So I always like to either have a chat or get some clear background information from parents/carers before the first session. This enables me to keep sessions as light and positive as possible, without going through all of the problems with the child.

If you don’t hear back from me within 24hrs please contact me by another means in case my phone has a problem or your email is in my junk. These things are rare but occasionally happen and I don’t want to delay getting things improving for you. Children are very receptive to hypnotherapy and positive results usually start quite quickly!
